Ping
Trigger an alarm when a host on the network can't be reached.
A ping condition checks whether a host on the network responds, and triggers when it doesn’t. It’s a connectivity or heartbeat check — use it to be alerted when a device, gateway, or server goes offline, independently of any tag value.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Host | The hostname or IP address to reach. |
| Attempts | How many consecutive failed attempts count as unreachable before the alarm fires. |
| Ping interval | How long, in seconds, to wait between attempts. |
How it triggers
THMI pings the host every ping interval seconds. When it fails to respond for the configured number of attempts in a row, the condition is met. Raising the attempts or interval makes the check more tolerant of a single dropped response.
