Conditions

The condition types an alarm can watch for — number, boolean, bit, frequency, ping, and planar range.

An alarm watches one or more tags and triggers when a condition is met. An alarm can combine several conditions, each of one of the types below. Each type has its own settings — pick the one that matches what you’re watching for.

  • Number value — compare a numeric tag against a value or another tag.
  • Boolean value — watch a true/false tag for a given state.
  • Bit value — watch a single bit within a packed value.
  • Number of changes — watch how often a tag changes over a period.
  • Ping — watch whether a host is reachable.
  • Planar range — watch whether two tags, as an (X, Y) point, fall inside or outside a region.

The shared alarm settings — priority, activation and deactivation delays, maintenance mode, categories — are covered on the Alarms page and apply whichever condition types an alarm uses.
