Device events

Push encoded start and end times into device tags for a day of the week.

A Device event writes a start time and an end time — encoded as numbers — into two device tags for a chosen day of the week. The device then runs its own schedule from those values, so you can configure a weekly on/off time from the Cloud in whatever numeric format the device expects. Unlike a Cloud event, a Device event is always weekly — one day of the week, repeated.

Tags

  • Start tag — the writable tag the encoded start time is written to.
  • End tag — the writable tag the encoded end time is written to.
  • Target tag (optional) — a tag associated with the event for tracking only; its value is never written to.

Time and day

  • Start time and End time — the times encoded and written to the start and end tags, in the project’s time zone.
  • Week day — the day of the week the event applies to.

Conversion format

The conversion format controls how a time is encoded into a tag’s numeric value, so it matches what the device expects:

  • HHMM — hours and minutes as a whole number (08:30 → 0830).
  • HH.MM — hours and minutes separated by a decimal point (08:30 → 08.30).
  • HH.M — hours and tenths of an hour (08:30 → 08.5).
