Projects

What a project represents in THMI and what lives inside one.

A project is your workspace for a single building or site. Almost everything you do in THMI happens inside a project: the data you collect, the screens you build, the alarms you configure, and the people you give access to all belong to one.

If you manage several buildings, you’ll have several projects — one per building, campus, or site — and you move between them depending on what you’re working on.

What a project contains

Within a project you’ll find:

  • Tags — the individual data points collected from your equipment. See Tags.
  • Pages — visual screens that show your building’s systems at a glance.
  • Alarms — the conditions that raise an alert when something needs attention. See Alarms.
  • Trends — charts of how your data changes over time.
  • Documents — files kept alongside the project, such as manuals or diagrams.
  • Permissions — who can see and do what within this project. See Roles and access.

Where a project’s data comes from

Each project is connected to the building’s on-site Edge system, which collects data from your equipment and sends it up to the Cloud. That’s why the live values you see in a project reflect what’s actually happening in the building. See How data flows for more.
